Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia tour [guaranteed departure]

Explore our South Caucasus discovery journey through the most magnificent locations of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. 11 day scheduled Caucasus small group tour is starting from Yerevan and ends in Baku, it will guide you to the most memorable places of the three South Caucasus countries. Trip includes accommodation, meals, guide, transportation and museum tickets.

How to join the group: your arrival airport should be Tbilisi or Yerevan on Friday. Departure airport should be Baku on next Monday.

Multi-country tour itinerary: 

Friday: Arrival day, evening city tour of Yerevan 
Arrival in Tbilisi or Yerevan airport, meeting company representative and transfer to a hotel in Yerevan; Check in after 15:00. Visit Mother Armenia monument and get a spectacular view of Mt. Ararat with panorama of central Yerevan. Visit the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. Take a tour of Cascade complex, Opera House, Northern Avenue and Republic Square. Visit Armenian Genocide Memorial. Take a tour of “Vernissage” to buy souvenirs and gifts. 
Overnight in Yerevan. Meal: breakfast. Distance: 100 km / 60 miles.

Saturday: Yerevan – Khor Virap- Echmiadzin – Zvartnots - Yerevan 
09:00 - drive to Khor Virap monastery, where the Mt. Ararat reveals its breathtaking size and splendor. Drive to Echmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit the Main Cathedral of Echmiadzin. Return to Yerevan. En route visit ruins of the 7th century Zvartnots Temple. Return to Yerevan.

Sunday: Yerevan– Garni – Geghard – Lake Sevan – Haghpat - Armenia / Georgia border – Tbilisi
09:00 - check out from hotel. Drive to the oldest surviving building on the territory of Armenia, the 1st century Garni Pagan Temple. Visit one of the most beautiful monasteries in Armenia, the 13th century cave monastery of Geghard. Drive to Lake Sevan. Visit monastery of Sevanavank on Sevan peninsula. Continue to Dilijan, a resort town renowned for its charming nature and extraordinary architecture. Visit the historical district of Old Dilijan, the Sharambeyan Street. Drive to Alaverdi. Visit Haghpat monastery. Drive to Armenia-Georgia border. After border formalities, drive to Tbilisi.

Monday: Tbilisi - Jvari - Mtskheta 
10:00 - start exploring Tbilisi's old town. Visit Sameba (Trinity) Cathedral, Metekhi Church, and the Bridge of Peace over the Mtkvari River. By cable car, visit Narikala Fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue. Take a walking tour to the Abanotubani district, famous for its Sulphur baths, Clock Tower of Rezo Gabriadze Theatre, and Anchiskhati basilica. Continue to Jvari Church, built at the end of the VI century. From here, enjoy a beautiful panorama of Mtskheta, nestled between peaks and the confluence of two rivers. Drive to Mtskheta, the old capital of Georgia. Take a stroll in the old town and visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Return to Tbilisi.

Tuesday: Signagi - Bodbe - Gremi - Telavi 
09:00 - drive to fortified city Signagi, surrounded with a wall and watchtowers. Explore convent of Bodbe, the territory of the monastery offers spectacular views of the land of the best Georgian wines - Alazani Valley with peaks of the Greater Caucasus towering behind it. Continue to Gremi fortress, visit local history museum and experience the unique traditions of the region at local Community, where you can savor Kakhetian wines crafted in Kvevri in accordance with local customs. Arrive in Telavi, visit Telavi old town and the food market Check in to hotel.

Wednesday: Alaverdi - Tsinandali – Ananuri - Gudauri
09:00 - we will start this day with Alaverdi Cathedral. Built in the early XI century, it is one of four Great Cathedrals of the country and the highest of the ancient churches of Georgia. Next stop is in the Tsinandali Estate - well known for its beauty. Prince Alexander Chavchavadze was a poet and a prominent figure in Georgia. In his home you can find an art gallery and a bar, where you can try Tsinandali - the first Georgian wine produced in accordance with the European technology. Continue towards the Caucasus Mountains, we will make a stop on the bank of the Zhinvali reservoir and visit Ananuri Castle, check in and diner at the hotel.

Thursday: Kazbegi - Gergeti - Gori - Tbilisi
09:00 - we will follow the old Georgian Military road through Cross Pass, a route steeped in both natural beauty and historical significance. On the way stop at the Friendship monument, our path leads us to Stephantsminda, a quaint town surrounded by the majestic Caucasus Mountains. Here we will drive up to Gergeti mountain and enjoy beautiful panorama from the iconic Trinity Church. After the exploration of Kazbegi area, we'll drive to Gori, immersing ourselves in history at Stalin's birthplace and museum. Drive to Tbilisi. Check in to hotel.

Friday: Lagodekhi – Border with Azerbaijan – Sheki
09:00 - drive to Lagodekhi border with Azerbaijan. Cross the border, meet your local guide and start exploring Azerbaijan – the land of fire. Drive to Sheki. On the way, visit the first Albanian church in Caucasus in the village Kish dating back to the 1st century AD. Have a short sightseeing tour on arrival: visit Sheki medieval fortress, Sheki Khans Palace, handicrafts workshop, panoramic view of the town, mosque-madrassah, and local bazaar.

Saturday: Shamakhi – Baku
09:00 - drive to Baku. On the way visit historical mosque Juma and mausoleum of Seven Domes – Yeddi Gumbez in Shamakhi town. visit the Shirvan Shah's family grave yard. Arrival in Baku. Evening tour 1 hour. 
Overnight in Baku. Meal: breakfast. Distance: 300 km / 190 miles.

Sunday: Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku
09:00 - today you will visit the area of the Greater Baku and Absheron peninsula. Start with Gobustan National Park. Pay a visit to the Petroglyphs Museum and explore petroglyphs dating back to 10,000 BC. Continue to mud volcanoes in Gobustan Reserve. Gobustan is home to almost half of world’s mud volcanoes. Later drive to Ateshgah – temple of fire worshippers located in Surakhany village. Zoroastrians from India travelled thousands of kilometers to Ateshgah to worship fire coming out of the earth. Drive to Yanardag Mountain with natural gas burning for several thousands of years. 
Overnight in Baku. Meal: breakfast. Distance: 250 km / 155 miles.

Monday: Departure
Transfer to Baku airport for departure.

Trip note for 2022 departure dates: at this moment land borders between Azerbaijan and Georgia are closed due to Covid restrictions. If, situation will not change until your travel dates, then we should consider one from the following options:
- cover just 2 countries by land: Georgia and Armenia;
- use Tbilisi – Baku flight, not included in the tour price;
- move, or cancel the tour.
